A new era of Peaky Blinders is on the way, with Jamie Bell set to take over the role of Duke Shelby in an upcoming sequel series. The character—son of Tommy Shelby, originally played by Cillian Murphy—was previously portrayed by Conrad Khan in Season 6 of the original show and later by Barry Keoghan in the recent film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Bell will now carry the role forward as the central figure of the franchise’s next chapter.
Joining Bell in leading roles is Charlie Heaton, alongside Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch, and Lucy Karczewski.
Set roughly a decade after the events of the film, the new series shifts to 1950s Birmingham, exploring a city rebuilding after World War II. At the center of the story is an older, more formidable Duke Shelby navigating a world filled with both opportunity and danger as the Shelby legacy evolves.
Series creator Steven Knight expressed excitement about continuing the story in a post-war setting, highlighting the transition to a new generation of characters and conflicts. The show is currently filming in Birmingham and will consist of two six-episode seasons, set to premiere on Netflix and the BBC. No official release date has been announced yet.
