Amazon MGM Studios has dropped the first trailer for The Runner, an action thriller led by Gal Gadot that is set to premiere Sept. 2 on Prime Video. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald from a screenplay by Mark Gibson, the film follows a high-stakes survival story centered on a mother forced into an impossible mission after her son is abducted.

Gadot stars as Maia, a prominent London attorney whose ordinary morning run turns into a desperate fight for her son’s life when an anonymous caller reveals the child has been kidnapped. To secure his release, Maia is ordered to assassinate a key witness connected to one of her legal cases while remaining constantly on the move and following every instruction. The trailer emphasizes the relentless pace of the ordeal as the countdown intensifies and every decision carries life-or-death consequences.

The preview showcases Gadot sprinting through London’s streets, underground stations and landmarks while evading danger, leaping from moving vehicles, engaging in hand-to-hand combat and confronting increasingly perilous obstacles. Damian Lewis portrays the mysterious kidnapper orchestrating the deadly game, while Alfred Enoch and Rory Wilmot round out the principal cast. The psychological thriller blends action with emotional stakes as Maia must weigh her moral convictions against the desperate need to save her son.

The Runner marks another action-driven role for Gadot following performances in the Wonder Woman films, Red Notice and Heart of Stone. With Macdonald at the helm, the film combines a tense cat-and-mouse premise with a fast-paced urban setting, positioning it as one of Prime Video’s major thriller releases this fall.

The film will debut exclusively on the streaming service on Sept. 2; see the trailer: HERE.
