Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the third season of Taylor Sheridan’s espionage drama Lioness, offering a tense first look at a new operation that places its central characters in greater danger than ever before. Returning stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles as CIA operative Joe McNamara and senior intelligence official Kaitlyn Meade, leading a story centered on covert threats, foreign operatives and deepening betrayals ahead of the season’s Aug. 2 premiere.

The trailer suggests Joe’s latest assignment quickly becomes personal as hidden enemies close in and the boundaries between her professional responsibilities and home life continue to erode. Kaitlyn warns her operative that the enemy may already have critical intelligence, while Joe is forced to navigate an increasingly complex conflict under the guidance of Kaitlyn and CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield, played by Michael Kelly. The official synopsis says that “Joe walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish and paths rearrange.”

Morgan Freeman also returns as Secretary of State Edwin Mullins alongside Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier and newcomer Ian Bohen. Paramount+ has described the upcoming installment as the series’ most personal mission to date, with the action expanding across multiple fronts while testing the loyalty and resilience of its intelligence team.

Created by Sheridan, Lioness continues to build on the success of its first two seasons, combining military action with political intrigue and character-driven drama. Season 3 will consist of eight episodes streaming exclusively on Paramount+, with the first two seasons available on the service ahead of the new premiere.
