Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” has added another wave of high-profile talent for its sixth season, with David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis and Kathryn Hunter joining the Emmy-winning comedy in recurring roles. Character details remain under wraps as production continues in the United Kingdom.

The new season marks the series’ first extended move outside New York, sending amateur sleuths Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam and Mabel Mora — played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez — to London. The story follows the events of the Season 5 finale and centers on the death of rival podcaster Cinda Canning, portrayed by Tina Fey. Filming began in May, with the core trio and Michael Cyril Creighton returning.

Season 6 already had assembled an extensive roster of British and Irish guest stars, including Jennifer Saunders, Sharon Horgan, Simone Ashley, Sean Teale, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood and Matthew Beard. Additional previously announced cast members include Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol, continuing the show’s tradition of attracting prominent names.

Co-creator John Hoffman has indicated that the London-set storyline draws inspiration from classic British mysteries and detective fiction. Although Hulu has not announced a premiere date, the series is expected to return later this year, with the latest ensemble expansion further cementing “Only Murders in the Building” as one of television’s most star-packed comedies.
