Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for the sequel film ‘Practical Magic 2’, featuring the return of original lead actresses Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The production serves as a continuation of the 1998 cult classic, tracking the subsequent generation of the magically gifted Owens family.
The trailer focuses on the central characters as they “must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all in a must-see cinematic event of fun, magic and mayhem,” according to the studio’s logline. The footage features the return of the recognizable Massachusetts coastal residence alongside traditional franchise elements, including late-night kitchen gatherings and self-stirring utensils, and shows conflicts arising when a new generation, portrayed by newcomers Joey King and Maisie Williams, faces the repercussions of the ancestral hex that causes the premature death of any romantic partner.
In addition to returning to their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, both Bullock and Kidman are credited as producers on the project alongside Denise Di Novi. The supporting ensemble features returning cast members Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, alongside newly added performers Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod. Filmmaker Susanne Bier directed the motion picture from a screenplay adapted by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel. The narrative framework draws from Alice Hoffman’s source material, specifically her subsequent literature, The Book of Magic.
