Marvel Television is moving forward with another chapter of Wonder Man, officially renewing the Disney+ series for a second season. The announcement confirms that stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will reprise their roles as Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery.

Marvel Television’s X feed said: “Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery will return for Marvel Television’s #WonderMan Season 2, co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, coming to @DisneyPlus.”

Inspired by the Marvel Comics character introduced in 1964 by Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby, the series centers on Simon Williams, an aspiring actor struggling to make it in Hollywood. His fortunes begin to shift after crossing paths with Trevor Slattery, a once-prominent performer whose career has faded. Together, they chase roles in a major superhero reboot directed by Von Kovak, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment industry.

At the same time, Simon’s life takes a dramatic turn as he begins developing real superpowers while pursuing fame. His abilities soon attract the attention of Agent Cleary from the Department of Damage Control, who deems him an “extraordinary threat.”

Season 1, which debuted January 27 with all eight episodes, earned strong critical praise, including a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.   A release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
